Don Denkinger

Don Denkinger may or may not be the worst umpire in baseball history. Unfortunately, there can be no doubt about the fact that he was the most hated by St. Louis for a time. This is because Denkinger made a bad call, with the result that the Kansas City Royals went on to win both Game 6 and Game 7 of the 1985 World Series.

Angel Hernandez

Angel Hernandez makes these lists a lot. This might be a bit unfair, seeing as how he gets more focused because he is active in the present time. Even so, there is a widespread consensus that Hernandez makes bad rulings for both the strike zone and the field. This sentiment isn't limited to the fans because the polling makes it very clear that a lot of players dislike him as well.

Joe West worked as a baseball umpire for four decades' time. Over that period, he gained a reputation for making bad rulings. Something that wasn't helped by his willingness to throw out both players and managers. Despite this, West is surprisingly well-liked, not least because he was around for so long that he became an institution of sorts.
