The Biggest Shoe Sizes In The NBA

While fans can lace up the same brands of sneakers as NBA stars, the shoes they buy are smaller. The average American male wears a size 10.5 shoe, compared to a typical pro basketball player who wears size 14.8 kicks. A few players, however, wear even bigger shoes.
Biggest Shoes to Fill: Size 22

At 7'1" tall and weighing 325 pounds, the legendary Shaquille O'Neal wore size 22 sneakers en route to four NBA championships. Bob Lanier, Will Perdue, and Dikembe Mutombo are other former players who wore the largest sneaker size in the league. The most recent NBA player to slip on size 22s is Tacko Fall. Towering over Shaq at 7'6" and 311 pounds, Fall played 37 games for the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Runners-Up: Size 20

Brook Lopez, a center for the Milwaukee Bucks, and Robin Lopez, an Orlando Magic center, have a lot in common. The identical twins are both 7'0" tall with size 20 feet, weighing in at 282 pounds and 281 pounds, respectively. Brook won a championship with the Bucks in 2021, but Robin was often congratulated for the achievement anyway. Joining the brothers in wearing size 20 is Phoenix Suns center JaVale McGee, who is also 7'0" tall.
Still Pretty Big: Size 19

Kevin Love, now in his eighth season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, dons size 19 sneakers on the court. The 6'8" center won an NBA championship with the Cavs in 2016 and has been selected as an NBA All-Star five times. Nets center Andre Drummond, named twice to the Eastern Conference All-Star team, stands 6'10" tall and also puts on size 19s.
Who's Lacing Up Size 18s?

Kevin Durant wore size 18 sneakers in back-to-back NBA championships with Golden State. Currently playing for the Nets, Durant is 6'10" and 240 pounds. DeAndre Jordan was decked out in size 18 shoes as he powered his way to becoming the NBA's all-time leader for field goal percentage (67.4%). Yao Ming, a physical stand-out at 7'6" and 310 lbs., played 486 games for the Houston Rockets and also falls into the size 18 group.
The Size 17 Club

Hall of Fame legend Larry Bird, who earned three championships with the Celtics, fills a size 17 shoe, as does Golden State's three-time NBA champ Andre Igduola. Donovan Mitchell, the Utah Jazz guard known as Spida for his long arms and flashy dunks, has his own signature line of Adidas shoes. Fans can buy his popular D.O.N. issues in sizes up to 14.5, but the ones Spida sports are an above-average size 17.
