Meet The NFL's Female Coaches

As of the 2021-2022 season, there were more female coaches in the NFL than ever before. These women are helping their teams win major games and in some cases, they're even guiding their teams to the playoffs.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach

2021 marked Maral Javadifar's third consecutive season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, taking on the role of assistant strength and conditioning coach. She also serves as the team's resident physical therapist. Javadifar has long been an advocate for females in the NFL, playing a big role in the Buccaneers Girls Flag Football Preseason Classic.

Callie Brownson

Cleveland Browns, Chief of Staff

Callie Brownson is the chief of staff for the Cleveland Browns. Perhaps even more notably, she was named in 2022 as the head coach for the U.S. Women's Tackle National Team in the USA Football league. Prior to coaching in the NFL, Brownson played for the D.C. Divas, a team in the Women's Football Alliance, taking on the positions of free safety and running back.

Emily Zaler

Denver Broncos, Player Performance Assistant

Emily Zaler assumed the role of player performance assistant for the Denver Broncos in the 2021 season, her second year serving the franchise. She's the first full-time female coach in the team's history. Before getting her start in the NFL, Zaler worked with the New York Knicks during the 2019-2020 season, serving as the team's assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Jennifer King

Washington Commanders, Assistant Running Back Coach

Named the assistant running back coach in January 2021, Jennifer King became the first African-American female assistant coach to ever work in the NFL, as well as the second female assistant coach in NFL history. She spent 2020 as an intern with the team before being offered a full-time coaching position. Before working with the Commanders, King participated in NFL coaching clinics and was a member of the NFL Women's Careers in Football Forum.

Lori Locust

Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Assistant Defensive Line Coach

The first female assistant coach to ever work for an NFL team, Lori Locust has been with the franchise since 2019. Along with the team's defensive line coach, she led the team to win the Super Bowl in February of 2021, becoming the first female coach to ever win a Super Bowl. Before joining the Buccaneers, Locust attended the NFL Women's Careers in Football Forum in 2017 and 2018.
