Ahead of the ESPYs awards ceremony in July 2022, ESPN announced 16 nominations for the best WWE moment. Following a series of bracket matches, fans narrowed down the nominations to four candidates.

The Greats of the 90s
Stone Cold Steve Austin’s return to the WWE ring is a worthy moment itself, but the superstar earned his nomination by displaying impressively physical matches. Fans of the WWE of the past and 90s kids everywhere shed a tear as Austin stunned the crowds in a viral moment with his enduring skill against Pat McAfee, Theory, and Vince McMahon.
One of WWE’s greats and among the most iconic wrestling stars in history, the Undertaker earned his best moment when he accepted his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. Leaving his wrestling persona behind, Mark Calaway accepted his induction with a vulnerable and emotional speech and a thunderous audience ovation.
Big Wins and Glory
Big E’s journey through the ranks of WWE took over a decade, but his efforts proved fruitful when he cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and defeated Bobby Lashley to claim the championship. In response to his nomination and knowing he was up against tough competition, Big E tweeted, “Please continue to send in your pity votes.”
Fans finally awarded the winning moment to Cody Rhodes’ return to the WWE. After several years of tumultuous personal discovery as a wrestler, Rhodes returned to WWE in a moment loaded with fanfare, glory, and a winning match against Seth Rollins.
